Assistant County Administrator

The County of Lancaster (population 11,230), a waterfront community located on the southeast end of Virginia's Northern Neck, is soliciting applications for the position of Assistant County Administrator. Performs general government administrative functions as well as governmental budgetary and related financial duties as Finance Director, including grant administration and procurement, under the auspices of the county administrator. Must be able to perform duties independently with minimum oversight, supervise personnel, prepare reports and make presentations to public entities. Represents the county on local and regional boards and commissions. Serves as the county's chief administrative officer in the absence of the county administrator. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college in Public Administration, Government, Political Science, Finance or other public sector-related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of public administration and/or public finance-related experience required, preferably in local government; or an equivalent combination of public sector-related education, training and experience. Ability to proficiently use Bright financial software preferred.

Department of Emergency Services Captain/EMS Supervisor

The Lancaster County Department of Emergency Services is accepting applications for the position of full-time EMS Supervisor/Department of Emergency Services Captain. Under the supervision of the Chief of Emergency Services, the successful applicant will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the following:

Serve as the head of the EMS division of Lancaster County Department of Emergency Services, provide Advanced Life Support patient care, serve as the Hazardous Materials/Radiologic Officer for the County, serve as a liaison between the County, the Volunteer Rescue Squads and the Fire Departments to meet the needs of the public.

Minimum Training and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and released as a Virginia Certified Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic, ACLS and CPR certifications. EMT and CPR Instructor. Firefighter I and II, EVOC, HTR - Vehicle Rescue, Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations and Fire Instructor as well as: Incident Command, Safety Officer, Leadership and NIMS certifications.

The applicant must pass a physical examination certifying the ability to perform the work of an EMT. The applicant must have an acceptable criminal history, valid driver's license and Virginia DMV record with two positive points.

The applicant will work rotating ten, 12 and 24 hour shifts, must serve on call periods and extended periods during states of emergency.

This full-time position will be eligible for county benefits. Interviews are expected to begin on or about April 23, 2012. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate/Paramedic

The Lancaster County Department of Emergency Services is accepting applications for the positions of full-time and part-time Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate or Paramedic. Under the supervision of the Chief of Emergency Services, the successful applicant will perform a variety of duties to include providing emergency medical treatment in Lancaster County, assist with public education programs and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and released as a Virginia certified Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate or Paramedic, Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVOC), ACLS and CPR certifications.

The applicant must pass a physical examination certifying the ability to perform the work of an Emergency Medical Technician. The applicant must have an acceptable criminal history, valid driver's license and Virginia DMV record with two positive points.

The applicant will work rotating ten, 12 and possibly 24 hour shifts and must be available for call back work during states of emergencies.

The full-time position will be eligible for county benefits. The part-time position will not be eligible for benefits. Interviews are expected to begin on or about April 23, 2012. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
