The Office of the Treasurer for cities and counties of the Commonwealth was established by the constitution in 1869.The primary function of a local Treasurer can be grouped into three major catogories:

1. The receipt and collection of revenue.
2. The safe keeping of revenue.
3. The appropriate accounting for and disbursement of revenue.

The Lancaster County Treasurers Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

NOTE: (Extended hours at dead lines are published in the local newspaper.)
